There is currently a bill sitting in Parliament right now that will give immense powers to the Canadian government to spy on the online activities of Canadians.

Check this link out for a primer on it:

Bill C-30's "Voluntary" Warrantless Disclosure Provision

So, as you can see, this gives the government too much powers to more than peek at the activities of Canadians.

This will also cost ISPs and Canadians millions:

Over $80 million to implement this infrastructure and maintain it.

And Vic Toews comment on those who are against the bill:

Protest Vic "With Us or With the Child Pornographers" Toews Today in Vancouver
Toews Has Been Smearing Online Surveillance Critics For Weeks

"With us or with the child pornographers."

Yeah, he actually said that during a Parliament session.

Well, if you are Canadian, I encourage you to right to you member of Parliament and tell them to vote "No!" on this bill or sign this petition:

Over 100,000 signatures already, only a week or so ago it was about 60,000 (IIRC).
