I wanted to do a test encode to compare to everyone computer with a sample file to see how long it takes with the settings i use to encode. The sample will be the Xamd intro encoded to 720 and 1080. I included the xml file for my CRF 16 in MeGUI & the already remux files. The xml file goes into your megui folder/allprofiles/x264 folder.

You just have to change the source type to progressive & check off source is anime. leave the resize filter to lanczos sharp and start the encode. thanks for helping out with this compare.

I will be added the 1080p version stats later. I added a poll for the 720 encode time.

P.S. next time you should make a .bat file so all we have to do is download and run it, no setup.

I'll run it when I have a chance. B Gata H Kei is taking up all my CPU cycles.

On the 720p 1 core was sitting at 100% while the other 15 (logical) cores were at or below 30%. Sadly I do not know of a multithreaded VC-1 decoder :( (not that anyone uses VC-1 anyways...)

You have two different Xeon processors? I can't say I'm not jealous, though admittedly I don't know too many things that can efficiently use all 16 cores

After so "good" results with 720p, I am no even going to bother with 1080p - it probably would take hours to finish. I could blame uTorrent or FileZilla for bad performance, but it is clear that my laptop is just not powerful enough.

rofl, laptops are never powerful enough. and now you know why i want such a fast computer, waiting 18 hours for a single 23min video just doesnt cut it.

The T4500 is an ancient Core 2 Duo, though. Hmm. I'll probably try this on my own laptop sometime later today. It uses a Clarksfield.

Just finished B Gata H Kei, so I'm downloading right now. Laptop uses a Clarksfield i7 and my encoding machine uses an AMD 1035t. I'll post up soon as a I have a chance.

EDIT:

Laptop (MSI GX660R-060US)
OS: Win7 HP x64
CPU: Intel i7-740qm @ 1.95 GHz
RAM: 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz

720p
FPS: 7.80
Time: 3:37

1080p
FPS: 3.76
Time: 9:39

Encoding machine
OS: Win7 HP x64
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1035t @ 2.78GHz
RAM: 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1333MHz

720p (8-bit)
FPS: 13.79
Time: 2:38

1080p (8-bit)
FPS: 6.69
Time: 5:26

720p (10-bit)
FPS: 8.09
Time: 4:30

1080p (10-bit)
FPS: 3.63
Time: 9:59

Surprised at the results, kind of. Cman's i7 was only 2.9% more FPS on 720p and 5.7% more FPS on 1080p, despite having a large CPU clock (36.7%) advantage. And while my CPU has 6 cores, Cman's has more logical threads with hyperthreading.
