I did say this would happen in the old thread. People are bored. You gave them something to kill time with.

i think when they say best quality. they should really mean all around audio, video & subs in the format they are looking for. i really think they go for acc & flac more then the original files on HD version. bakabt is a matter of being the best. but when it all comes down to it. it doesn't matter if your offer is the best or not. it has to meet or beat the audio, video & sub's standards before it will get approved.

If that was the definition why should anyone bother wasting time experimenting with compression settings and finding appropriate crf and things. Quality, to us anyway, is about achieving relative transparency at a much smaller size than the original file. That is the most difficult part of a release. Otherwise, we'd be running a site of remuxes. Sure some people like that, and they use sites like ADC and similar. If you want to make Anime Passion a site for that, go for it! It would probably be of use to several people. That's not what BakaBT is for. We try to maintain a balance between good picture and audio and subs while still attempting to minimize the file sizes.

With respect to your comment on audio, why would we want the original file on the Blu Ray? What's the point? If you encode the same thing to FLAC you save significant space, with an identical audio output. If you encode that into a high bitrate AAC track, yeah then you lose something, but discerning that is beyond the ability of most people. Your own audio setup might add more distortion than the compression of the file in such a case. Why take a 1.5 GB DTS-HD track, when you can get a 1 GB FLAC track that has an identical set of data?

EDIT: i have been thinking about asking to have all my releases removed from the site.

The releases of yours that we have taken have been enjoyed by plenty of people are are still seeded pretty well. Why abandon a future fan just because we didn't see eye to eye on a different release?

now that is just to funny. in the past they didn't care if member were acting like kids. Cman has gone and broke BakaBT with his offer.

well i have nothing against BakaBT and their vast collection of great releases. i only REALLY REALLY dislike the "politics" behind getting something approved. and some people there can just be soo damn rude it isnt funny.

Yes. You're completely right. And I hate it. But what do you expect me to do? Keep hitting refresh for everything, reading all the threads and deleting every single troll comment? I can't possibly keep track of all 200,000 people and strictly enforce respect. This goes for me and the other staffers; it isn't that we don't care. But we aren't omnipotent. If you PM me or someone else and say "this person is being rude" or "this thread has become a flame war", then we will follow up your complaint and delete comments, lock threads, and issue warnings as necessary. But you can't just expect me to be aware of everything. I didn't even have time to sign on yesterday when all this happened overnight. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. This site is bound to attract troll as well. Hell maybe I'm a troll by some standards.

BTW, that image is fantastic!

Do most people really have connections which are able to download 10 GB in minutes? It's a matter of hours for me.
(Not that it's a problem I can wait and space is not a problem either :) )
Imagine, if you will, a beautiful field full of flowers; bluebells, daffodils, tiger lilies... Every kind of blossom you can imagine, bringing a wonderful conflagration of color into a world which is otherwise dull and dark. Now, imagine that every one of those flowers is planted on the body of a tormented soul that died in agony (probably undeservedly), and will never know the true afterlife.

In life, they became florists because they love flowers, but here, a flower is a symbol of pain, of death within death. Their conflicting feelings build and build, and they become quite mad.

You are not a florist! You are a manufacturer of weapons!

Looks like it takes my home internet about 11 hours to download 10GB.

Right now I can "only" download 2.7 Mb/s, because my ISP is still modernizing the internet in my area. But I think this is quite enough :)
Sometime this summer/fall my contract will be updated to 16Mb/s.

Wow, I thought I had it bad with 10 Mb/s, but 2 is horrible, unless you of course meant 20 Mb/s?

Their elitism has surely blinded them from the obvious.
Unfortunately the sites motto is just a catch prase as Fox News telling the truth with their "fair and balanced."

.... WTF I get 1Mb/s and that is if it is seeded well, I dont wanna say how slow it is

also when bakabt states they want quality that is misleading when what they really mean is they want smaller sizes, so if you are going to have the rules saying you want quality encodes then everything we have is some of the best out there, but if you are saying that they will not be accepted due to big file sizes then why dont you up date the damn rules saying you cant up series unless they are bellow a certain size and then on top of that look at the biggest files on bakabt and see the file sizes, there is one show that is over 131gb for just 1 series
so dont give us that crap I see big file sizes from the big groups.
SO STOP CONTRAINDICATING YOURSELVES AND GIVE US A STRAIGHT FUCKING ANSWER I AM TIRED OF DEALING WITH YOUR WISHY WASHY LOGIC

If you are going to say no to a big file size then say no to all the big ones not "unless they are from big encoding names like coalgirls"

Oh, I was careless. Yeah, I get 2MB/s, not 2mb/s. Thanks, Cman.

I need to stop doing that. :D

Okay, I know we've had this conversation before but to clarify:

If the b is lower case, then it is short for bit.
If the B is capitalised, then it is short for byte.

One byte is 8 bits.

We normally measure file sizes in bytes, but the ISPs had some smart marketing people and markets speed in bits.
So if you got a 10 megaBIT/s connection that means you can download 10/8 megaBYTES/s.

It was most likely marketed like this to confuse people, that's my guess anyway

Yeah, this is what I think, too.

I understand the difference between bytes and bits (and have corrected people on it before), but Cman keeps catching my slip-ups. >.<

And I didn't really think about what the numbers represented - 10 hours is a lot. Heh.

Xtras, obviously you're not as stupid as majority of the elite fags on BBT. We all love greater quality, that little extra effort on the subs, flac audio, then there's always the video quality. It's clear as glass that Cman's encode is better than the others. That should be the be all, end all. If we were to talk abut file size, this also does well in that scenario.

Point being, fags need to stfu and stop being ignorant. Don't get too technical. Upscale or not, it's still better.
