Looks like FileSonic also freaked out now. No FSc links can now be shared, although you can still upload/download your own files, you just can't get links to share with other people.

Yup. So here's a list of changes thus far:

  • MegaUpload - shut down by DOJ/RIAA/MIAA/etc
  • FileServe - removed affiliate program, closed countless accounts and removed files
  • FileSonic - disabled sharing functionality entirely, who knows for how long
  • Uploaded.to - blocked US IPs entirely

as i said before, any and all DDL sites will be effected, it is just a mater of time. so unless you want to archive something and not share it all DDL hosts will be rather useless.

Edit: Wait, didn't Pooba say, Filesonic is located in Hong Kong???

ok,here is the idea,no point into going to uploadstation cuz they are owned by the same people at fileserve,,also they are based out of america.you want out of the usa and here is a list of the major hosting and where they are located

FIleserve - America
Filejungle - America
Filesonic - Hong Kong
Uploadstation - America
Oron - Netherlands
Mediafire - America
Rapidshare - Germany
Megashares - America
Bitshare - Hong Kong
Filepost - America

So what exactly is FSonic afraid of?

There will be less uploads now that there is no money as reward, but those that upload for other reasons besides money I wonder what they will use, maybe MF or RS, hopefully those stay alive.

I believe this outlook is somewhat naïve, since no file host is immune to prosecution - no matter how strictly they police themselves.

People are likely going to drop DDL support entirely for at least some time, and switch to some other file-sharing method (i.e. usenet, torrents, etc).

FileServe can only be used to download and retrieve files that you have uploaded personally.
