is this a local server or a server in a data center?

whew, that will be one large rack of drives... i personally have no experience with this scale of a personal server. all i know to do would be look into server racks but beyond that i really am clueless without a lot of research on the topic. you will be looking for about 600-700 4TB drives, if you are planing on having data redundancies for data security possibly even more. then a rack mount drive assembly, something like this, will need about 10 of those. then you will need a solid air conditioned room to put this in, as heat is the #1 reason for premature drive failure. just starting to do some numbers i dont even want to think about the near $300-400K budget that this thing will require. and as to how to get all those drives correlated with RAID and whatnot and how to manage all that data.... that part is WAY beyond me.

Honestly you're asking on the wrong forum and even if I give you my advice I cannot vouch for it as I have no experience working with data center types of data servers.

You also didn't provide what you were planning on doing, your budget, what exactly are you looking for, and many more other specifics.

I work at studio we make educational videos, and plan to launch a TV channel soon, we are using external hdd for now, and want to buy server for permanent solution.
I browsed a lot and didn't found anything beside 100~700TB range.

Pra7ul, sure you're not trying to outfit a NSA    :secret: substation with all that storage.

Kappa, sorry couldn't help myself; but as Cman eloquently put, that's a lot of storage.

Seriously though, hope you fine a solution to your humungous server issue, GL.

Never able to make that, if i could i would have made one, but really there is lack of information regarding building your own mass storage system.

Hello! Is your task still actual? I have experience in datacenter design.
