Personally, this man's husky voice really annoys me. It sounds like a bird. Oh man, is this guy's throat always hoarse or something?

I don't mind it being so goofy as Tomoki in Heaven's Lost Property, or Yamada in Sister Princess, which is acceptable, since those characters are just like clowns in a comedy show. Actually it's quite fit.

But when I heard Ganta talking in English dubbed Deadman Wonderland, my image of this leading character was totally ruined. I even decide to drop this series, just couldn't bear it.

Knowing Greg Ayres will be casting Sion in No. 6, I'm crying to tears.

The voice does not suit Sion either!

That's odd. When I first started reading the manga of Deadman Wonderland, the first voice I pictured for Ganta was Greg Ayres'.

Normally, I only find him fit for more comic roles. His take on Leo, from Ghost Stories, was brilliant. I don't like it when he voices serious characters (as seen in Chrno Crusade), the only exception being BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad. It was possibly the best voice over he's done, in my opinion.

I didn't even know who he was intill I read this thread, I don't care about english voice actors I never listen to english dubs I can't stand them, anime should never be english dubbed in my opinion. All english dubs to me are so cringe worthy.

Well, I agree with you in that I couldn't care less about dubs these days, but I'm glad that someone took the initiative and started dubbing them because, frankly, I wouldn't be here if it weren't for English-dubbed Dragon Ball Z, Yu Yu Hakusho, and the like. It helps ease people into anime before they get into the good stuff. ;)

Lol I agree with you there as well, I won't be here if it wasn't for those initial english dub animes I watched. I remember back in the days before I watched anime I hated anything subbed, but now I love them. Which is funny.

Moral of the story: ANIME FTW!! =)

Come to think about it, your right with out english dub I would have never got into anime. I use to hate anything subbed too just like Ang3lofDarkness but after a while their becomes a time when you get more into anime+Japanese culture and can not stand it when its not in Japanese and when that happens you never go back. Funnily enough a lot of people are not into Japanese dubs on this forum, I guess there have not reach that stage where there really into it yet. Its a shame really that we don't have many purest on the forum, I always thought that people who were into anime only listen to Japanese dub and hated dub lovers but apparently not :(

Although I only listen to the original audio now, if it was not for dub I would not be into anime. For that, I cannot hate dub. Also, just because people are purists does not mean they will be haters! As others have noted, it is an important step in easing people into anime. It appears a lot of us have gone down that path. The system is so teleological, just like modernisation but, I will call this animisation (animization for the Americans)!

I use to watch strictly Japanese, but now I watch more dubs than anything (although the amount of anime I watch has drastically decreased as well).

There are some Jap dubs that are better than Eng dubs, but there are also Eng dubs that are better than Jap dubs. I just check out both and compare em on a series by series basis.

I typically watch dub these days though cause I'm usually busy doing other stuff and it's easier to keep up with the show while doing other things if you're not having to read.
